The first stop of series 7 for DownUnderGround , the Australian bmx flatland contest series, was back to Sydney.
It was a great weekend, the only part that made it hard was the wet weather which put a bit of a cloud over the whole event. Despite this, the majority of Australia’s riders showed up to throw down and while early on looked like it could of been a washout, the event ended up going down in a slightly re-formatted way as things didn’t get started until much later in the day.

It was great to had Malaysian ripper Taslem Raziff, aka Botek at the contest. Colony bmx donated their new flatland frame to be raffled off and all the money raised went to the pro class, big thanks to Colony bmx for this. Taslem Raziff took the win and the cash, he was pumped. Big thanks to Freestyle Now and Colony bmx for their continual support and to the riders who showed up and rolled around. It was great to keep flatland in Australia alive and pumping.

Winner of the Colony bmx raffle was Matt Wootton pictured here with Paul Chamberlain and Shane Badman as well as Jim Brock who is part of bmx Australia history. Jim documented many of the very early bmx competition on the east coast of Australia in the 80’s and 90’s by taking many many photos, it was good to have him there.
